EHA has been involved in issues of food safety on a domestic and international basis. We have assisted in numerous cases requiring not only epidemiological expertise, but also crisis intervention and crisis management skills. We routinely interact with the USDA, FDA, CDC, EPA as well as state departments of health.
In an active investigation, we may monitor these regulatory agencies' investigations and findings. All too often, even well-intended investigations by public authorities lead to misleading or inaccurate conclusions with disastrous repercussions. The pathogens of most interest to us are Salmonella, Shigella, E.coli, Listeria and Hepatitis A-all of which can be transmitted by food, water and/or dairy products.
