Please be advised that Service Smoked Fish Corporation of Brooklyn, New York is recalling vacuum-packed 3 – 4 – 8 – 12 – 16 oz. and random weight size with the brand name "Brooklyn’s BEST" appearing on the circular label inside the vacuum bag with Used Dates from 12/3/09 through 12/19/09. The product was also air-packed in bulk boxes with Lot Numbers 060 through 043.
The distribution was in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut areas as well as Baltimore, Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon. The reason for this recall is that Listeria monocytogenes was recovered from this product, which can cause fatal infections in immune-compromised individuals and septic miscarriages in pregnant women.
