Food Safety Check-Up

What is a Food Safety Check-Up?

A Food Safety Check-Up is a comprehensive approach to assessing food safety for a manufacturer, foodservice operator, retailer or distributor. It is a program that has been developed and used successfully to help companies minimize their risks regarding food safety.

It is a combination of Gap Analysis and Benchmarking. Gaps in the food safety system from prerequisite programs (e.g., sanitation, recall, pest control, etc.) through HACCP are identified and benchmarked against best practices. Prioritized recommendations are then given as to next steps. Additionally, those things that are being done well are identified so that they can be continued and built upon.
